This year, Bele Casel was the winner of the “50 Best Italian Wines Super Prize Award for Innovation.”

It was the last day of the harvest and I was working in a vineyard where I don’t get any cellphone reception.
I was more tired than I had been for at least an entire year.
I get home and I notice that the iPhone is connected to the wifi network.
I open the link that Fabrizio (@enofaber) had tweeted to me.
Cronache di Gusto (@cronachedigusto) had just revealed the winners of the “super prizes” in the Best Italian Wine Awards.
And this is what I read:
“Prize for Wine and Innovation: A spirit of enterprise and a vision for the future, indispensable qualities for a wine that seeks to innovate while staying true to tradition. Asolo Prosecco DOCG Colfondo by Bele Casel.”
Now, I’m not going to tell you how long I yelled at the top of my lungs, staring up at the sky, as I read these lines.
After nearly 40 years of hard work, sacrifice, crazy investments (both financial and human)… after having made so many mistakes and then picking myself up and dusting myself off, only becoming stronger and more determined… wonderful recognition has finally arrived.
This wine — the Colfondo — has put me to the test and it hasn’t been easy. But the reward has been overwhelming.
Thanks are in order here. This prize belongs to all of Bele Casel: my father (first and foremost), my mother, my sister, my wife, and my children.
I’d like to dedicate the award to all the people who have believed in us and in our wines.
Restaurateurs, wine shop owners, wine bar owners, bloggers, journalists, and private clients: it’s thanks to you that this dream has come true.
