{"id":5726,"date":"2018-07-20T01:06:27","date_gmt":"2018-07-19T23:06:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.belecasel.com\/?p=5726"},"modified":"2020-06-17T12:08:28","modified_gmt":"2020-06-17T10:08:28","slug":"burano-island-venice-transportation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.belecasel.com\/en\/2018\/07\/20\/burano-island-venice-transportation\/","title":{"rendered":"Burano: A small Venetian island off the beaten path"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Burano is one of those places that still retains the magic of another era in Venice.<\/h2>\n<p>There are so many incredible things to see in Venice: San Marco square and basilica, the Rialto Bridge, the Guggenheim Museum, the Ghetto&#8230; The list goes on and<\/p>\n<p>And of course, one of the best things to do in Venice is to simply get lost as you wander the carless streets and canals.<\/p>\n<p>And of course, there are the many islands on the Venetian lagoon, like Murano where the famous glass-blowers practice their art.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>But if you&#8217;re going to Venice this summer, be sure also to check out the island of Burano (with a B).<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s famous for the colorfully painted houses. According to legend, the islanders painted them that way to demarcate where one property began and another ended.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s also famous for the production of <em>merletti<\/em>, lace and doilies.
