It’s that time of year when everyone who’s not in the wine business asks their friends who are in the wine business what is the best wine pairing for Christmas?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Usually, the question of what wine to pair with what dish<\/em><\/strong> is a really tough one to answer. And the reason for that is very simple: It depends on what you are eating, where you are eating it, and with whom you are eating it<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

But when it comes to Christmas<\/em><\/strong> and wine pairing<\/em><\/strong>, the answer actually becomes surprisingly simple.<\/p>\n

And that’s because the holidays in general are a time when you eat the widest range of food all year long. It’s also the time of year when you connect with people from nearly all walks of (your) life.<\/p>\n

So maybe a better question is what’s a wine that will pair with just about anything?<\/em><\/strong> and what’s a wine that nearly everyone will like?<\/em><\/strong> (except for the people who don’t like wine).<\/p>\n

And the answer to those questions, my wine loving friends, is even more simple than the question: Prosecco, Prosecco, Prosecco.<\/p>\n

Whether you’re doing Prosecco Brut<\/em><\/strong> or Extra Brut<\/em><\/strong> (dry and even more dry) or whether you’re doing Prosecco Col Fondo<\/em><\/strong> (even more dry!), Prosecco has the versatility to pair with an unbelievably wide range of dishes \u2014 from the super salty to the tangy and bitter.<\/p>\n

It has high acidity<\/strong> and low alcohol<\/strong>, which makes it ideal with party food and passed antipasti and it also makes it ideal for the holidays because you are probably going to be drinking a little bit more than usual and so you want to stay on the lighter side.<\/p>\n

But there’s also another reason why Prosecco is a such a great party and entertaining wine, excellent for pairing with the foods you serve at a holiday gathering.<\/p>\n

The word Prosecco itself has come to denote festivity in nearly every language. Just say it out loud and it seems to sparkle.<\/p>\n
